Loeb School classes: Photoshop, sportswriting, multimedia

The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications in Manchester, N.H., is offering new classes in Photoshop, sportswriting and mulitmedia.

Classes for the six-week sessions are Wednesday evenings from March 9 through April 13. All classes except Photoshop are free.

Two Photoshop classes will be featured. In Photoshop Elements 6: The Basics, instructor Debi Rapson of Desktop Training Professionals of Manchester will cover basic techniques, ethics, and program menu logic. In Photoshop Elements 6: Beyond the Basics, Rapson will cover keyboard shortcuts and more advanced functions. The Basics class will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the Beyond the Basics class from 6:30 to 8. The fee for each class is $50, or $25 for those 18 years old and under.

Jim Fennell, a veteran sportswriter and columnist for the New Hampshire Union Leader of Manchester, will teach Sportswriting. He will cover everything from high school sports to professional leagues. Students require a laptop. The class will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

In Multimedia, Don Himsel, photo editor of The Telegraph of Nashua, N.H., will teach how to combine photos and sound to develop multimedia packages for more colorful reporting. Students require a laptop, digital camera, a cable or memory card to upload photos to a computer, and a digital recorder and cable to upload sound. The class will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
