Lois L. Gould

Lois L. Gould, 84, of Kingfield, Maine, died June 22 in Sandy River Center for Health Care in Farmington, Maine, after a long illness.

Gould worked at The Franklin Journal of Farmington, Maine, for more than 30 years and was editor there for 20.

She leaves two sons, Carroll and Arthur; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters.


Edward Allen Matheson

Edward Allen Matheson, 78, of Bangor, Maine, died June 17 after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

He was a sportswriter for the former Bangor (Maine) Commercial and the Bangor Sunday Commercial. He was news editor at The Republican Journal of Belfast, Maine. In 1956, he worked as a reporter and writer for the Bangor Daily News.

He was a contributor to Maine Golf Magazine, based in Brewer, Maine. He also had feature stories published by The Associated Press and The Christian Science Monitor, based in Boston, among others. He was a stringer for the Portland (Maine) Press Herald and the Maine Sunday Telegram.

He leaves three children, Marie, Susan and Mark.


Janemary F. Martell

Janemary F. Martell, 91, of Columbia, S.C., died Feb. 19 at Palmetto Heart Hospital in Columbia.

She was a freelance reporter for The Republican of Springfield, Mass., and for the former Holyoke (Mass.) Transcript-Telegram. She was also Easthampton bureau chief for the Daily Hampshire Gazette of Northampton, Mass.

She leaves a son, Neil; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.


David A. DeTurk

David A. DeTurk, 76, of Winslow, Maine, died of cancer June 14 in Waterville, Maine.

He was a copy editor and correspondent for the Morning Sentinel of Waterville and for the Kennebec Journal of Augusta, Maine.


Raymond Librizzi

Raymond Librizzi, 74, of Pittsfield, Mass., died June 15 peacefully at his home.

He was a news and feature photographer for 43 years at The Berkshire Eagle of Pittsfield, Mass.

He leaves two sons, Marcus and David; a daughter, Tara; three stepsons, John, Steven and Paul; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren.


Ruth Deaton Kimball

Ruth Deaton Kimball, 93, of Franklin, N.H., died June 27 where she lived at the Peabody Home in Franklin.

Kimball was a reporter and feature writer for the then-Journal Transcript of Franklin after World War II. An avid writer, Kimball published her last poem when she was 91.

Kimball leaves a son, Don; a daughter, Marian; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren, Madelaine and Ethan.


William K. Paynter

William K. Paynter, 92, died June 15 in Danbury, Conn., after a long illness.

He was a reporter for the Coatesville (Pa.) Record, The Hartford (Conn.) Courant, and The New York Times.

He leaves his wife, Emma; three children, Christelle, John and Laura; five grandchildren; a great-grandson.


 

Krikor Frank Minasian

Krikor Frank Minasian, 76, of Dracut, Mass., died June 14 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, Mass., after a long illness.

He worked for more than 51 years as a compositor at The Sun of Lowell, Mass.

He leaves his wife, Theresa; a son, Frank; a daughter, Donna; two brothers.


Edward Heinstrom

Edward Heinstrom, 87, of Northfield, N.H., died June 22 in his home.

Heinstrom was a Linotype operator for Boston newspapers.

He leaves three sons, Gary, Galen and Garrett; a daughter, Trina; six grandchildren; a great-grandson.


Monsignor Thomas J. McDonnell

Monsignor Thomas J. McDonnell, 73, of Mattapan, Mass., died June 14 at Caritas Carney Hospital in Dorchester, Mass., of complications of lung cancer.

He was a longtime columnist for The Pilot of Boston, the newspaper of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, and for the Boston Irish Reporter.

He leaves a sister, Maria, and a brother, George.


Eugene Salvaterra

Eugene Salvaterra, 93, of Springfield, Mass., died June 16 in Wilbraham, Mass.

He had a part-time job for 30 years in the mailroom at The Republican of Springfield, Mass.

He leaves two daughters, Patricia and Violet, and five grandchildren.


Patricia Morrison

Patricia Morrison, 87, of Gardiner, Maine, died June 14 at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care center in Augusta, Maine.

She worked for the Kennebec Journal of Augusta, Maine.

She leaves her husband, Cleveland; a daughter, Maura; a son, Michael.
